Article Icon 1Footage of Main Event Shooting Released

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has released body camera and surveillance footage from the parking lot of Main Event, the entertainment venue where a deputy fatally shot Jalin Seabron on Feb. 8.

In the footage, the deputy runs up to Seabron, who is armed, and orders him to drop his gun three times before firing multiple shots.

A lawyer for Seabron’s family argues the shooting was unjustified as Seabron wasn’t given the chance to comply. The Sheriff’s Office maintains the deputy acted to save lives, noting that officers “cannot hesitate” in deadly situations.

Seven total suspects were arrested in connection with the shooting, including Seabron’s sister Nevaeha Crowley-Sanders, who deputies allege shot another woman in the chest inside the venue prior to the deputy’s arrival.

Article Icon 1Boebert, Polis Respond to Family’s Intimidation

Rep. Lauren Boebert responded on social media yesterday to the threat a Colorado family received over their Make America Great Again banner.

Last week, a family in Severance received an anonymous letter implying someone might burn down their house if they kept up a banner in their yard that says “This is ultra MAGA country.”

In a post on X, Boebert said threats like this won’t be tolerated in Colorado’s 4th District, adding: “Americans are free to express their political views. MAGA is a movement of the people and we will not allow our people to be intimidated into silence.”

Gov. Jared Polis, a Democrat, expressed his agreement with Boebert over X, writing that a MAGA flag “is a Constitutionally protected form of free speech” and echoing her sentiment that “no one should ever be intimidated into silence.”

Article Icon 1Blizzard Warning in Place for Eastern Plains

A Blizzard Warning remains in effect through today for the Eastern Plains, where blizzard conditions are expected to develop, significantly impacting travel.

Winds of 40-60 mph along parts of Highway 86 and I-70 could create near-zero visibility when combined with heavy snowfall. Snow accumulations in the plains are expected to range from 2 to 8 inches.

On the Front Range, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until this afternoon, with expected snowfall of 8 to 18 inches and wind gusts of 30-45 mph. Roads along the I-70 mountain corridor will be slick and slow moving through the afternoon.

Snow will clear by Thursday morning, but another round of snow and rain is forecast for late Thursday into Friday. The weekend will be milder, with sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures.
