Lucy Grace Nelson, a 42-year-old from Lyons, is facing federal charges for repeatedly vandalizing a Tesla dealership in Loveland, causing up to $20,000 in damages.

The vandalism, which occurred on Jan. 29 and Feb. 2, 7, and 11, involved spray-painting offensive messages and throwing Molotov cocktails at vehicles.

After being arrested at the dealership last Monday, Nelson appeared in federal court last week on a charge of malicious destruction of property and remains in custody. Nelson, who is also known as Justin Thomas Nelson, has a Larimer County Court date scheduled for March 7.

Nelson’s alleged crimes coincide with a wave of nationwide Tesla protests. In Superior, hundreds gathered outside a Tesla dealership on Saturday to protest CEO Elon Musk and his actions at the Department of Government Efficiency.

Article Icon 1First March Storm Ends Warm Spell

Colorado’s recent warm spell is coming to an end as the first snowstorm of March makes its way into the state.

One of two cold fronts will arrive today, dropping temperatures to the 30s tonight and bringing a mix of rain and snow. Evening rain in the Denver area could transition to snow overnight.

The second front is forecast to arrive tomorrow, with heavier and more widespread snowfall totaling 1-4 inches around Denver and 4-8 in the southwest mountains. Travel could be impacted as heavy snow combines with strong winds.

Though the storm system is relatively light, it could be the first of many, as March is typically Colorado’s snowiest month.
