Article Icon 1Supreme Court to Hear Conversion Therapy Case

The Supreme Court agreed on Monday to hear a case challenging Colorado’s ban on conversion therapy, the practice of trying to change a person’s sexual or gender identity through counseling.

The appeal was filed by conservative legal organization Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) on behalf of Kaley Chiles, a Christian therapist in Colorado Springs.

In its filing, ADF argued the law violates counselors’ free speech rights. Chiles says it impedes her ability to serve clients, many of whom are Christians seeking to resolve identity conflicts.

More than 23 states have similar laws, meaning the court’s ruling will likely have nationwide implications. Chiles’ case will be argued and decided in the court’s next term, which starts in October and ends in June 2026.

A team of 18 ambassadors began patrolling the neighborhood around Coors Field as part of the newly established Ballpark General Improvement District (GID).

GIDs are publicly funded special districts established by an area’s stakeholders to improve security, maintenance, and infrastructure using a budget supported by property fees.

The Ballpark GID was established by special election in 2024. Its ambassadors, who include unarmed security specialists, will work to make the area safer, cleaner, and more welcoming.

The team will be active daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Ballpark expects a $1 million budget for the project in 2025, but hopes it will increase in the coming years.

Article Icon 1Denver Chef to Host Cooking Show

A Denver chef and owner of the Italian restaurant Cattivella will soon have her own cooking show on the network Eat This TV.

Elise Wiggins, who self-describes as a “born-again Coloradan,” opened Cattivella in 2017 after more than 30 years in the industry. She also teaches cooking classes and briefly hosted a Rocky Mountain PBS Show in 2019.

Eat This TV reached out to Wiggins in January, eventually selecting her over several competing chefs after filming a pilot in New York.

Her new show, Cattivella Kitchen with Chef Elise Wiggins, will begin production in Denver on March 16, filming 12 episodes for a spring release date.
