Article Icon 1Gun Rights Advocates Rally Against Bill

About 100 Coloradans rallied outside the Capitol on Tuesday to oppose Senate Bill 3, a Democrat-sponsored gun control bill, while it was debated by the House Judiciary committee.

The bill, which passed the Senate in February, would restrict the sale of semiautomatic firearms with detachable magazines. It’s been amended 15 times, most recently to broaden sheriffs’ power to deny applications.

Gun rights advocacy group the 2nd Syndicate hoped the rally would sway enough Democrats to vote down the bill, which one speaker called “one of the most unconstitutional gun bans that has ever been seen.”

After 12 hours of debate, the bill passed the committee in a 7-4 party-line vote. It will now be sent to the House Finance Committee before reaching the House floor.

Article Icon 1PA Rep. Seeks to Censure Boebert

Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, a Pennsylvania Democrat, introduced a resolution on Monday seeking to censure Rep. Lauren Boebert for her comment about Rep. Al Green.

Green himself was censured after interrupting President Trump’s joint address to Congress, leading to his removal. Republicans and 10 Democrats—including Houlahan—voted to censure Green.

Speaking on Real America’s Voice, Boebert said Green’s behavior lacked decorum and that it was “abhorrent” for him to “shake his pimp cane” at the President.

In her resolution, Houlahan claims the remark is “derogatory.” Boebert said in a second interview that she stands by the comment.

Article Icon 1Boulder Tech Trapped in Moon Lander

Technology developed in part at the University of Colorado (CU) Boulder to map the moon’s south pole is stuck inside the Athena lander, which toppled over upon landing.

Moon3D, a rover-mounted camera, would have generated the first close-up map of the moon’s south pole. On March 6, Athena landed sideways, trapping the rover and nullifying the mission.

Athena launched on Feb. 26 onboard the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, which also carried a water-mapping lunar satellite developed in Littleton.

CU’s Dr. Paul Hayne, who helped develop Moon3D, said the outcome is “disappointing.” Hayne and other CU scientists will provide another camera for a similar mission in 2027.
