Denver has officially secured a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) franchise, marking the city’s first major professional women’s sports team.

The team, the league’s 16th franchise, will begin play in 2026. Plans are also in motion for a dedicated stadium and training facility.

The ownership group, led by IMA Financial Group CEO Rob Cohen, is committed to building a top-tier club and is in advanced discussions with Molly and David Coors, of the Molson Coors founding family, to join the effort.

Fans can already place season ticket deposits, with the team’s name and branding to be announced at a later date.

The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) has released its 2024 speed violation rankings, with El Paso County leading in citations—more than doubling the total of the second-highest county.

El Paso, Douglas, and Jefferson counties have consistently ranked highest in citations, with Fremont and Mesa counties joining the top five this year.

A motorcyclist in El Paso County who filmed himself speeding over 150 mph from Colorado Springs to Denver went viral in 2024.

The most ticketed roads include I-70, I-25, Highway 50, Highway 24, and Highway 285.

Article Icon 1U.S. Figure Skating Mourns Flight 5342 Loss 

U.S. Figure Skating, based in Colorado Springs, confirmed early Thursday that several athletes, coaches, and family members were aboard American Airlines Flight 5342, which crashed into the Potomac River near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport Wednesday night.

The figure skaters and their family members were returning from the National Development Camp in Wichita when the plane collided with a military Black Hawk helicopter, leaving no survivors.

In a statement, U.S. Figure Skating expressed its sorrow, mourning the loss of those who were a vital part of their sport. Among the victims were renowned coaches and former world champions.
