Survey: Most Coloradans Dislike AI

Two-thirds of Colorado voters view artificial intelligence unfavorably, according to a newly released survey. Opposition runs sharpest among younger residents.

Some 81% of those aged 18 to 44 said they dislike AI, compared with 55% of those 45 to 64 and 49% of people over 65. Sixty percent had used AI tools in the past year.

Opposition to data centers runs broader still, with 86% opposed to one near their neighborhood and 75% opposed anywhere in the state. A majority backs a construction ban.

The survey landed days after Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called for slowing frontier AI development, a stance echoed by other industry leaders. AI stocks slid in response.

More Bear Attacks in Southwestern Colorado

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is investigating two bear attacks reported over the weekend in South Fork and Durango. Both victims were treated for injuries.

A bear bit a woman on the arm through her tent wall at the Rio Grande National Forest’s Park Creek Campground early Friday. Officers found claw marks, mud, and dark hairs on the tent.

Two days later, a black bear pushed through a cracked bedroom window at a Durango condo and swiped a 17-year-old under her blankets. She screamed until it left.

Wildlife officers set a trap after the bear entered another nearby home Monday. The attacks add to a record year of bear conflicts driven by drought.

Farmers Almanac Releases Winter Forecast

The Old Farmer’s Almanac has released its winter forecast for 2026-2027. Denver falls in a region the publication expects to be milder than normal but snowier.

Above-normal snowfall is predicted for the Colorado region, with the snowiest stretches in late November, late December, and early February. Travel could get tricky at times.

The coldest periods are forecast for mid- to late December, early and late January, and early February. NOAA is projecting the strongest El Nino on record.
