Five Colorado Democrats in Congress said Monday their offices were targeted with letters containing a suspicious substance. The FBI and postal inspectors are investigating mailings nationwide.

Rep. Joe Neguse’s Boulder County district office received a letter with white powder. As of Monday, his office said, none of the reported envelopes had been found to contain hazardous substances.

Sen. John Hickenlooper said postal investigators intercepted a letter addressed to his Denver office. Rep. Jason Crow said his Aurora office received one, but his staff is safe.

Rep. Brittany Pettersen called the mailings an effort to intimidate Congress, and Rep. Diana DeGette said her staff is unharmed. Several lawmakers released statements thanking law enforcement.

An election official with the Front Range Passenger Rail District has resigned following a mistake on this fall’s ballots.

About 800,000 voters in Adams, Arapahoe, Douglas, and Weld counties who live outside the district received Ballot Issue 7A by mistake. The measure asks for a sales tax to fund passenger rail.

Counting only eligible votes will require extra work from affected county election offices. In Arapahoe County alone, 262,000 ineligible voters got the question.

The rail district has hired former Jefferson County Clerk Pam Anderson as an election advisor. Officials say voters should simply fill out and return the ballot they received.

The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will be on display at Denver’s Forney Museum of Transportation on Nov. 12, but only for four hours.

Visitors can see it up close from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., snap photos, and pick up fun giveaways, including Wiener Whistles, stickers, and postcards.

The Denver stop features one of a fleet of six Wienermobiles that brand ambassadors called Hotdoggers drive across the country.

The museum will offer discounted admission all day, and the visit comes as the Wienermobile celebrates its 90th birthday as a roadside icon.
