Article Icon 1 Charges Filed in Boulder Attack

Mohamed Soliman, the man accused of setting pro-Israel demonstrators on fire at Pearl Street Mall on Sunday, now faces multiple state and federal charges, including a federal hate crime and 16 counts of attempted first-degree murder.

A total of 12 victims were injured in the attack, with at least one in critical condition.

The White House confirmed Soliman, an Egyptian national, was in the country illegally. President Trump spoke about the attack on social media, saying Soliman “came in through Biden’s ridiculous Open Border Policy.”

Soliman, who appeared in court Monday, told police he planned the attack for a year and would do it again. He is being held on a $10 million cash-only bond and is set for a second court appearance on Thursday.

Article Icon 1Supreme Court Backs Oil Rail Line

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled in favor of a plan to build the Uinta Basin Railway, an 88-mile railroad that would allow crude oil to be shipped through Colorado by connecting Utah’s oil-rich Uinta Basin to national rail networks.

In a unanimous decision, the justices found the Surface Transportation Board’s approval of the project—following years of review and a 3,600-page environmental impact statement—met the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

The decision is a major blow to opponents, who demanded broader environmental review and raised concerns about the risk of shipping oil along the Colorado River.

Justice Brett Kavanaugh, writing the majority opinion, stated: “NEPA is a procedural cross-check, not a substantive roadblock. The goal of the law is to inform agency decision making, not to paralyze it.”

Article Icon 1Tubing Season Spurs Rescue Warnings

With summer just around the bend, hundreds of inner tubers are flocking to Colorado’s rivers to enjoy one of the state’s most popular water pastimes.

While tubing can be relaxing, it’s not without risk. According to Lt. Doug Picone at West Metro Fire Rescue, first responders perform two to three water rescues per week on Clear Creek, a top tubing destination in Golden.

The risk will increase in the coming weeks, Picone says, as higher temperatures melt the snowpack and bring swifter, colder rapids to the rivers.

To stay safe, officials recommend tubers keep an eye on the water speed, stay sober, and “know what you’re getting into.”
