Article Icon 1Judge Blocks Trump’s Deportation Order

A district court judge in Colorado on Tuesday extended a preliminary injunction blocking the Trump administration from deporting Venezuelans accused of gang ties under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act.

The administration invoked the centuries-old statute in March to target alleged members of the Tren de Aragua gang, calling the group a national security threat.

U.S. District Judge Charlotte Sweeney, a Biden appointee, ruled the move likely violates constitutional protections and rejected the claim that presidential declarations are immune from court review, calling it “nonsense.”

Sweeney also cited evidence of potential harm if deportations proceed, including dangerous prison conditions abroad. Her ruling halts removals from Colorado and requires 21 days’ notice before any future deportation attempts.

Article Icon 1Colorado Lawmakers Race to Pass Key Bills

Colorado’s 2025 legislative session ended late Wednesday night, with lawmakers rushing to pass a flurry of last-minute bills before the midnight deadline.

Among the most closely watched was House Bill 25-1312, expanding legal protections for transgender Coloradans. The bill passed the Senate 20–14 after a controversial custody provision was removed, with two Democrats joining Republicans in opposition.

The House also gave final approval to Senate Bill 25-005, which would make it easier to form labor unions by eliminating a second election requirement. Business groups opposed the measure, while Gov. Jared Polis now faces pressure from both sides over whether to sign it.

Lawmakers also advanced bills on wage theft, healthcare costs, and school funding. But efforts to challenge TABOR’s constitutionality and to ease affordable housing development on church and school land failed to advance.

Article Icon 1Watchtower Turns 25 in UFO Hot Spot

The UFO Watchtower near Alamosa is marking 25 years as a go-to stop for sky-watchers and the curious.

Built by Judy Messoline in 2000 after locals reported strange lights in the sky, the tower sits in Colorado’s San Luis Valley—often called “America’s UFO Hot Spot.”

With more than 300 sightings logged, the site features a trinket-filled energy garden, rumored vortexes, and stories of healing. Psychics claim it’s a portal to another universe, and visitors often report tingling, pressure, or other sensations while walking the grounds.
