Article Icon 1Georgetown Loses Police Force, Sheriff Steps In

The Georgetown Police Department has no officers left following a series of resignations related to the Christian Glass shooting.

To ensure law enforcement coverage, the town has entered into an agreement with the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office (CCCSO) to provide coverage until May 1, 2025. Under this arrangement, deputies will handle patrols, 911 calls, and administrative duties.

While Georgetown will no longer have a local police chief, CCCSO deputies will maintain a strong presence and dedicated service within the community.

Sheriff Matt Harris highlighted the growing trend of resource consolidation among small towns and reaffirmed his office’s commitment to supporting Georgetown during this transition.

Article Icon 1Frank Azar Wins $1.55M in Settlement

Frank Azar, known as “The Strong Arm,” has won a $1.55 million settlement in a Google keyword lawsuit against an Alabama law firm.

A two-year legal battle between Azar and Alabama attorney Michael Slocumb, nicknamed “The Hammer,” concluded with Slocumb’s firm agreeing to the settlement.

Azar’s 2022 lawsuit claimed that Slocumb’s firm purchased Google ads tied to Azar’s name and slogan, allegedly redirecting users to a call center that failed to clarify its identity, misleading consumers into believing they were contacting Azar’s Aurora-based law firm.

Azar initially sought $19 million in damages but agreed to the settlement to avoid extended litigation.

Article Icon 1Orphaned Bear Cubs Released

A set of orphaned bear cubs was released into the wild last week.

The cubs were brought to a wildlife rehabilitation center after their mother was hit by a car on Highway 133 in July. Over the summer and fall, they gained weight and socialized with other cubs to prepare for their return to the wild.

Once the cubs reached 80 pounds, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) determined they were ready to den for the winter and they were transported back to their original habitat and released

The goal is for the cubs to thrive, avoid human conflict, and eventually become reproducing members of the bear population. See photos of the bear cubs being released.

This Wireless Innovation Is Working to Solve a $300B Problem

Retailers lose $300B annually due to poor inventory management. That’s just one of many large-scale problems that can be solved by Energous’ wireless power solutions.

You read that correctly: wireless power. Think Wi-Fi, but for power supply. This company is working to make power cords obsolete, and you can invest as they do it.

What they’re creating has the potential to send shockwaves through the world economy— a world where battery-free devices are always connected and real-time data is always accessible. That’s why it’s so crucial to retail, supply chain, and logistics operations. Data is the oil that keeps these companies running smoothly. And thanks to Energous’ wireless power network transmitters, they could get a 24/7 flow of data without depending as much on batteries or cords.

Energous has already landed a contract with a Fortune 10 multinational retailer to supply their wireless power solutions. The contract opens them up to 4,700 retail locations across the U.S.

We believe this is just the beginning.
