Article Icon 1Boebert Wins Protection Order Against Accuser

A Weld County judge on Thursday granted Rep. Lauren Boebert a temporary protection order against the man who accused her of affairs with three staffers.

The judge found David Wheeler posed a credible risk of harm and ordered him to stay at least 100 yards from the congresswoman. Wheeler, a North Carolina activist, founded the American Muckrakers PAC.

His complaint also alleges Boebert arranged a $200,000 payment to a former aide. House Ethics Committee rules can’t officially accept complaints against candidates within 60 days of an election, and Wheeler filed his last week.

Boebert denies the allegations, calling them politically motivated and “filthy garbage.” She says she has never had a sexual or romantic relationship with any staffer.

Wheeler says his sources are ready to testify under oath, and that he’ll file a defamation lawsuit against Boebert on Oct. 1 in Weld County.

The University of Mississippi has identified Aidan Hamilton, an 18-year-old freshman from Englewood, as one of two students found dead Monday.

The other was Robert Strang, a 20-year-old junior from Atlanta, and the two were found in separate locations. “Aidan was a bright, wonderful young man who was taken too soon,” Hamilton’s family said.

Investigators found packaged kratom, an herbal substance with opioid-like effects, at both scenes. Officials say there’s no confirmed link between the deaths.

Toxicology results are still pending. Mississippi’s public safety commissioner said investigators can’t rule out foul play until testing is complete.

RTD buses start running in East Colfax Avenue’s new center lanes between Broadway and Colorado Boulevard early Sunday.

The 15 and 15L routes will stop at new center stations about six blocks apart, with buses every four to five minutes. Regular traffic drops from two lanes to one in each direction.

Business districts along the stretch counted 30 closures and 29 openings since construction began in October 2024. The project director says this segment opened more than a year ahead of schedule.

Reactions are mixed. One rider called it “a breath of fresh air,” while a nearby resident predicted people will “avoid Colfax altogether.”

Work continues farther east, with the full line to I-225 in Aurora expected around the end of 2027.
