ICE Shooting Case Moves Forward

An Adams County judge ruled Wednesday that prosecutors have enough evidence to proceed against Brandon Booth, a former guard at the Aurora ICE detention center.

Booth, a GEO Group employee, is accused of shooting a protester outside the facility on July 16 after demonstrators blocked workers from getting inside.

He faces two felony assault charges. A detective testified that Booth said the women had threatened to find his children.

Court documents include photos of officers aiding the wounded protester, whose injuries police said were not life-threatening.

Former IRS Employee Charged with Laundering

A federal grand jury has indicted Clinton Dale, a 51-year-old Denver tax preparer, on 12 counts of preparing false tax returns and money laundering.

Prosecutors say Dale’s firm, Blue Bear Tax Solutions, created fake businesses to disguise clients’ drug-dealing income.

Dale spent more than a decade at the IRS as a contact representative and revenue agent before resigning in lieu of termination in 2014. He ran for U.S. Senate as an unaffiliated candidate this cycle.

Each money laundering count carries up to 20 years in federal prison.

Oktoberfest, Other Events Across State

Oktoberfest season rolls on as the 56th annual Denver Oktoberfest kicks off its second weekend at the Ballpark District today.

In the mountains, Breckenridge Oktoberfest marks its 30th year through Sunday, while Snowmass Village hosts its festival Sept. 26-27.

Also this weekend, Colorado Springs OktoberFest is hosting its 14th annual Dachshund Dash, a race for wiener dogs. This guide lists dozens more stein-raising events across the Denver metro.

Beyond beer, a soapbox derby in Keenesburg has doubled to 64 racers for Saturday, and the Crested Butte Film Festival runs through Sunday.
