Threat Closes Aspen Airport

Aspen/Pitkin County Airport was evacuated and closed Tuesday afternoon after several staff members received an email threat regarding airport property.

Beginning around 2:30 p.m., about 55 passengers and 40 airline employees were moved away from the terminal, along with TSA and other workers. Aspen police, Snowmass Village police, and emergency crews assisted.

Law enforcement conducted a systematic check of the property before clearing the scene. The terminal reopened around 4 p.m., and officials asked travelers to check with airlines about delays.

An airport spokesperson declined to share details about the threat, citing an ongoing investigation. Highway 82 remained open throughout the closure.

Busch Investing $23M in Fort Collins

Anheuser-Busch is investing $23 million in its Fort Collins brewery to boost production and expand worker training. The project is part of the brewer’s $600 million Brewing Futures initiative.

The upgrades will expand capacity for Michelob Ultra and add the ability to produce 25-ounce cans. The investment will also increase rail capacity to strengthen the brewery’s route to market.

A new technical skills training center inside the brewery will be one of 15 nationwide. Anheuser-Busch plans to upskill more than 90% of its manufacturing workforce over five years.

The brewery has operated in Fort Collins since 1988 and produces more than 48 brands. The company says it has invested $93 million there since 2021.

Rockies Notch 4th Straight 100-Loss Season

The Rockies fell 7-2 to Arizona Tuesday at Coors Field, locking in a fourth straight season of at least 100 losses. Colorado is only the fifth MLB club ever to reach that mark.

No team had done it since the 1962-65 New York Mets in their earliest years as an expansion franchise. Former Rockies star Nolan Arenado had three hits for the Diamondbacks.

Colorado was 50-74 on Aug. 16 but has gone 7-26 since, including 2-13 over its past 15 games. The club entered Tuesday with a majors-worst 5.57 team ERA.

The loss dropped Colorado to 57-100 with five games left to play. The Rockies still improved on last season, when they lost a franchise-record 119 games.
