Boebert’s Son Arrested

Garfield County deputies arrested U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert’s eldest son, 21-year-old Tyler Boebert, on Sunday on five felony counts, including three charges of sexual exploitation of a child.

The remaining two counts are contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The sheriff’s office says the case stems from an incident on New Year’s Day in 2024, when Boebert was 18.

He was booked into the Garfield County Jail and released the same day on a $10,000 bond. The arrest followed a felony review by the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Boebert is due in court Aug. 19, and the case remains under investigation. “I love my son,” Rep. Boebert said Monday, adding that the family takes the allegations seriously.

Slain Wolf Mistaken for Coyote

A licensed hunter who shot and killed a reintroduced gray wolf in northwestern Colorado in January had mistaken the animal for a coyote, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) said Monday.

The wolf, a female known as 2504, was translocated from British Columbia in January 2025. CPW cited the hunter $140 and five suspension points for shooting without the proper license.

The agency declined to press charges, saying the hunter made the ethical choice to report the shooting immediately and cooperated with investigators throughout.

Killing a protected wolf can otherwise bring up to a year in jail and fines of $2,000 to $100,000. Seventeen wolves have died since reintroduction began in December 2023.

Nation’s First Nature Library Opens in Thornton

Anythink Libraries opened the nation’s first public library built around the outdoors on Saturday in Thornton, and about 5,000 people turned out for the grand opening.

The 33,000-square-foot Nature Library sits on 15 acres inside Adams County’s 140-acre Aylor Open Space. It is the district’s eighth branch and cost roughly $43.4 million.

Patrons can borrow about 550 items, including snowshoes, telescopes, night-vision goggles, and wildlife trail cameras. Executive Director Mark Fink calls it “part library, part REI.”

Outside, there’s a mud pit, a one-mile loop trail, and four gardens. Any Colorado resident can get an Anythink card.
