Article Icon 1Charges Dropped in Christian Glass Case

Three Colorado law enforcement officers have had charges dropped in connection with the 2022 police shooting of Christian Glass, who was killed after calling 911 during a mental health crisis. The officers were accused of failing to intervene to stop the use of excessive force.

Former Clear Creek County Deputy Tim Collins, Idaho Springs Officer Brittany Morrow, and State Trooper Ryan Bennie avoided trial by agreeing to a plea deal.

As part of the agreement, the officers underwent additional training and participated in a video explaining what they did wrong that night and how the incident changed them. The video will be used nationwide to train officers on de-escalation and proper intervention.

The DA cited the emotional toll on the Glass family and weak chances of conviction as reasons for the deal. One officer still faces charges and is set for trial next month.

The wolf discussion at Wednesday’s Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission (CPW) meeting lasted several hours, resulting in the approval of a $32,768 depredation claim and the tabling of another over a $435 vet-related labor dispute.

So far in 2025, CPW has confirmed four wolf depredations and is tracking 26 known wolves statewide. That includes seven survivors from the 2023 release, 12 from the January 2025 group, five pups born in spring 2024, and two older Wyoming migrants. One uncollared wolf and a possible sighting in Browns Park add to the uncertainty.

Tracking data shows one wolf reached the Ralston Creek watershed near Denver, though CPW stressed wolves aren’t moving into urban areas. Six reintroduced wolves have died since releases began in late 2023.

CPW plans to continue reintroductions over several years and is ramping up conflict-reduction tools like range riders, fladry, and wildlife specialists. The tabled claim will be reconsidered once new reimbursement guidelines are in place.

The historic Lumber Baron Inn in Denver’s Highlands neighborhood is on the market for $3.2 million.

Built in 1890 by lumber magnate John Mouat, the 9,700-square-foot Victorian mansion now operates as a bed and breakfast and event venue.

The home features five suites, a ballroom, and a commercial kitchen, along with a haunted past, including an unsolved double murder from 1970.

The current owners say they peacefully coexist with the spirits, which they believe add to the inn’s charm.
