Article Icon 12025 Colorado Wildfire Forecast

While most of Colorado is on track to have an average wildfire year, southern Colorado will see heightened conditions as the season peaks. See an interactive forecast here.

Elevated fire risk will last through May in southeastern Colorado, driven by dry conditions and high winds. The risk will then shift southwest over the summer.

Even during an average year, around 6,000 fires collectively burn up to 160,000 acres across the state. Officials caution residents to stay vigilant and take steps to protect their homes.

Wildfire season now runs year-round, though activity typically peaks from May to October. Gov. Jared Polis says the state has upped its preparedness this year by investing in new helicopters, satellite surveillance, and a statewide dispatch system to speed response times.

Article Icon 1ACLU Sues ICE to Obtain New Facility Plans

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is suing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for access to what it claims should be publicly available documents detailing planned facility expansions.

In March, the ACLU submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to learn more about ICE’s plans for new detention centers. The group now alleges ICE failed to respond within the legally required 20 working days.

ICE has released partially redacted documents showing expansion plans in 10 other states—part of a broader $45 billion national proposal to ramp up detention capacity—but details about potential expansions in Colorado and Wyoming remain undisclosed.

The lawsuit comes as ICE discusses opening a new facility near Denver by the end of 2025, which could double the area’s existing detention capacity.

Article Icon 1Traffic Fatalities Drop Statewide

Fatal crashes have decreased across the state, according to traffic data released by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).

The state has recorded a 21% drop in traffic deaths so far in 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, following a 5% decrease from 2023 to 2024.

Fatalities in Larimer County and El Paso County fell by more than half. Mesa and Douglas Counties were the outliers, showing significant increases.

CDOT attributes the overall improvement to new road safety legislation, such as the hands-free cellphone law, as well as increased seatbelt usage and ramped-up enforcement.

Apple’s Starlink Update Sparks Huge Earning Opportunity

Apple just secretly added Starlink satellite support to iPhones through iOS 18.3.

One of the biggest potential winners? Mode Mobile.

Mode’s EarnPhone has already reached more than 45 million users who have earned over $325 million, and that’s before global satellite coverage. With SpaceX eliminating “dead zones” worldwide, Mode’s earning technology can now reach billions more in unbanked and rural populations worldwide.

Their global expansion is perfectly timed, and you still have a chance to invest in their pre-IPO offering at just $0.26/share.

Mode’s recent 32,481% revenue growth and their newly reserved Nasdaq ticker $MODE puts them one step closer to a potential IPO.

Last chance to invest at $0.26/share. Price changes on May 1.
