A trial is underway at the U.S. District Court in Denver for Michael Sang Correa, a Gambian man who is now the first non-U.S. citizen to be tried under the federal Torture Act.

According to Human Rights Watch, Correa was a member of the Junglers, a paramilitary “death squad” that tortured suspected coup plotters under orders from Gambian dictator Yahya Jammeh.

Correa came to the U.S. in 2016 and eventually settled in Denver. He was indicted in 2020 under Title 18’s anti-torture statute for crimes allegedly committed in The Gambia in 2006.

Correa’s case is one of three to be tried under the Torture Act since it passed in 1994. The trial is expected to last until April 18.

Article Icon 1Deputy Cleared in Main Event Shooting

The Douglas County deputy who fatally shot Jalin Seabron outside entertainment venue Main Event didn’t violate any laws, according to the district attorney who reviewed the case.

On Feb. 8, the deputy responded to an active shooter call at the Highlands Ranch venue and found Seabron, who was armed, in the parking lot. He ordered him to drop his gun three times before firing multiple shots.

Seabron was later found not to be the active shooter. A lawyer for his family has argued surveillance footage of the shooting proves it was unjustified.

In a press conference on Monday, District Attorney George Brauchler called the shooting a “justified use of deadly, lethal force under Colorado law” and said the deputy will not face charges.

Regulators have issued the state’s first-ever license for a psychedelic healing center to The Center Origin, a holistic wellness facility in Denver.

At the center, patients will be administered an agreed-upon dose of psilocybin—the psychoactive compound in psychedelic mushrooms—then undergo a supervised psychedelic journey.

The sessions last five to eight hours and cost around $3,500. They include a comfortable room, selected scents and music, and a clinical facilitator to act as a guide.

Though licensed, The Center Origin isn’t offering sessions just yet. Operations are on hold until Colorado approves its first psilocybin testing lab, expected later this year. Several other centers and providers are still awaiting licensure.

The father-son duo revolutionizing homebuilding

Home construction has been slow, costly, and inefficient for centuries. So in 2017, Paolo and Galiano Tiramani founded BOXABL to change that—bringing factory-built efficiency to a nearly $5T industry.

Where traditional homes take 7+ months to build, new homes can roll off BOXABL’s assembly line nearly every four hours. Equipped with plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, they’re ready to be delivered and lived in. They already have 190,000+ reservations from potential buyers*.

Now, the Tiramani’s are preparing for Phase 2—where modules can be configured into larger townhomes, single-family homes, and apartments.

Invest in BOXABL today before their raise partially closes on Monday.
