Article Icon 1Cracked Windshield Diverts DIA Flight

A Los Angeles-bound United Airlines flight out of Denver International Airport safely landed in Salt Lake City on Thursday after the plane’s windshield cracked mid-flight.

All 134 passengers aboard the Boeing 737 were transferred to another aircraft. Unverified photos show a shattered windshield and cuts on a pilot’s forearm, apparently from the glass.

The damage occurred at 36,000 feet, higher than the altitudes at which planes tend to collide with birds, hail, and other objects. Some speculate space debris may have struck the jet, something that’s never been known to happen.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating how the windshield cracked. Officials will try to determine if something struck the plane and, if so, what it was.

Colorado State University fired head football coach Jay Norvell after the Rams fell to 2-5 with a 31-19 homecoming loss to Hawaii on Saturday.

CSU hired Norvell in 2021 to help rebuild its football program. He finished with an overall record of 18-26, having led the Rams to a bowl appearance in an 8-5 season last fall.

Athletic Director John Weber praised Norvell’s impact but said a leadership change is necessary “to compete at the highest level” as CSU prepares to join the Pac-12 Conference next year.

Defensive coordinator Tyson Summers will serve as interim head coach for the rest of the season. The Rams next play at Wyoming in the annual Border War this Saturday.

The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for much of the Front Range and Eastern Plains on Monday as high winds and dry conditions led to critical fire weather.

Strong winds developed Sunday night into Monday, coinciding with a cold front. Northern Colorado recorded widespread 40-55 mph gusts, with some topping 70 mph on the plains and in the mountains.

Light snow fell in the high country early Monday, totaling 1-4 inches. Multiple freeze warnings, including for the Denver metro, went into effect at midnight last night.

The rest of the week will be calmer and warmer, though a weak disturbance Thursday may bring isolated rain and more mountain snow.

From a Caltech Garage to a $1 Trillion Market

In 2016, some innovative Caltech robotics students set out to transform fast food. That first garage-built prototype became Miso Robotics.

Since then, Miso’s robots have worked 200K+ hours in live kitchens for brands like White Castle, frying 4M+ baskets of fries, chicken, and more. That traction convinced NVIDIA, Uber AI, and Amazon to help refine Miso’s AI and robots. As restaurants grapple with 144% employee turnover rates and $20/hour minimum wages, that’s a major edge.

No wonder Miso’s first fully commercial robot, Flippy Fry Station, sold out initial units in one week.

Now, Miso’s leveraging its new manufacturing partnership to scale US-based production nationwide across a $4B annual revenue opportunity.

“One of the Largest Industries Ever”

That’s what NVIDIA’s CEO said about robotics. And he’s not alone. Ark Invest values it as a $24 trillion global opportunity.

So it’s a big deal that NVIDIA, Uber AI, and Amazon helped Miso Robotics perfect Flippy, its new fully commercial kitchen robot. It’s no wonder that initial units sold out in just one week.

Miso already has 200K+ hours for brands like White Castle under its belt. With the $1T fast-food industry facing 144% employee turnover rates, Flippy provides 24/7 labor and can boost profits by up to 3X.
