Article Icon 1Verdict Reached in Mike Lindell Trial

A federal jury in Denver found MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell liable for defamation on Monday.

Eric Coomer, a former Dominion Voting Systems director, sued Lindell for falsely accusing him of rigging the 2020 presidential election. Coomer sought $62.7 million in damages.

Coomer’s attorneys argued Lindell knowingly spread false claims or acted with reckless disregard for the truth. Lindell’s defense said he sincerely believed the allegations and was protected by the First Amendment.

The jurors found Lindell liable for two statements and his media company, FrankSpeech, liable for three, awarding Coomer $2.3 million in damages.

Article Icon 1CPW Confirms Wolf Pups Amid Debate

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) confirmed last week that staff observed a new litter of wolf pups while monitoring four separate den sites across the state.

While the exact number of new pups isn’t clear, litters have four to six on average, and about half the pups born in the spring make it to the next year, according to CPW.

The announcement comes amid heated debate about the Copper Creek pack, which has been linked to multiple livestock killings. On Thursday, a CPW commissioner, who is also a rancher, motioned to have the entire pack removed, lethally or otherwise.

Though the motion was initially ruled out of order, the commission agreed to hold a special meeting to discuss the issue before its next regular meeting on July 17.

Article Icon 1First 100-Degree Days This Week

More than one place in Colorado could see its first 100-degree day of the summer this week.

Scattered showers will fend off the heat wave today, with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s along the Front Range, but the cooldown won’t last long.

The heat will ramp back up Wednesday and build through the week. Places like Greeley, Limon, Burlington, and La Junta are forecast to hit 100 degrees on Friday.

High 90s in Denver could also tip into the triple digits on Friday. On average, Denver typically sees just one 100-degree day per summer.
