DIA Closes A-Bridge Security Checkpoint 

Denver International Airport (DIA) has permanently closed the Bridge Security checkpoint at the A-Bridge and Ansbacher Hall as of Monday.

This closure leaves travelers with two security options: South and West Security, and it requires passengers heading to Concourse A to use the train instead of walking across the bridge.

A new East Security checkpoint is under construction and expected to open in 2025, featuring 17 lanes and state-of-the-art technology.

Once completed, the A-Bridge will reopen to all screened passengers, restoring an alternative to the train for accessing Concourse A.

Police Investigate Boulder Frat Overdoses

Boulder Police are investigating after six men from the Kappa Sigma fraternity house were hospitalized for cocaine overdoses Saturday night.

Authorities suspect the cocaine may have been tainted, though it’s unclear if fentanyl was involved. The men are now in stable condition, and police are examining whether the incident was linked to fraternity pledging.

The University of Colorado Boulder confirmed that the men are students but clarified that Kappa Sigma is an unaffiliated, expelled fraternity.

Gov. Polis Suggests Eliminating the Penny

Gov. Jared Polis has suggested that eliminating the penny, which costs 3.07 cents to produce, could save millions annually.

In a post on X, Polis proposed that eliminating the penny could save over $300 million annually. He also advocated for replacing the one dollar bill with a coin, which he claims could save over $1 billion within a decade.

The Denver Mint, a major hub for U.S. coin production, faces rising production costs across multiple denominations. For example, it costs 11.54 cents to produce a nickel, while dimes, quarters, and half-dollars also exceed their face value in production costs.

Despite these expenses, the U.S. Mint reported a net income of $397.3 million in 2023, driven by the production of higher-value coins.
