Article Icon 1Musk’s xAI Sues Colorado

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, is suing Colorado in federal court to prevent the state’s first-in-the-nation AI antidiscrimination law from taking effect.

In its current form, the 2024 law seeks to prohibit “algorithmic discrimination” by regulating businesses’ use of AI in consequential decisions, such as hiring practices. Its effective date was delayed to June 30 as lawmakers debate revisions to the contentious framework.

xAI’s lawsuit, filed Thursday, claims the law is “unconstitutionally vague,” imposes burdens on xAI and the AI industry, and would force xAI’s chatbot, Grok, to promote the state’s ideological views.

Last month, a governor-appointed group announced potential revisions to the law, but those have yet to appear in legislation. The legislative session is scheduled to end May 13.

Article Icon 1Greeley Meatpackers Ratify Contract

Union employees of the Swift Beef Company meatpacking plant in Greeley have ratified a two-year contract with owner JBS USA after a multiweek strike for better pay, benefits, and working conditions.

Thousands of workers walked off the job March 16, protesting unfair labor practices. The strike lasted three weeks, ending when JBS agreed to resume negotiations April 4.

The new contract raises wages by 70 cents per hour, with two additional wage increases over the next two years. It also caps health care costs, requires JBS to pay for personal protective gear, and includes two one-time bonuses.

JBS is the world’s largest meatpacking company, and the Greeley facility is one of the nation’s largest meatpacking plants. This strike represented the first U.S. slaughterhouse strike since 1985.

Article Icon 1Mid-April Snow in Forecast

An April storm moved in last night and could leave 3 to 7 inches of snow in areas above 10,000 feet by Wednesday morning. See a map here.

At lower elevations, forecasts call for rising cloud cover, cooler temperatures, and rain showers before conditions dry out and highs rebound to the 60s and 70s on Wednesday.

A stronger system arrives Friday night into Saturday morning, bringing a sharper drop in temperatures, more widespread mountain snow, and a chance of snow in Denver and the plains.

Unknown Number Calling? It’s Not Random

The BBC caught scam call center workers on hidden cameras as they laughed at the people they were tricking. One worker bragged about making $250k from victims. The disturbing truth? Scammers don’t pick phone numbers at random. They buy your data from brokers.

Once your data is out there, it’s not just calls. It’s phishing, impersonation, and identity theft. That’s why we recommend Incogni: They delete your info from the web, monitor and follow up automatically, and continue to erase data as new risks appear.
