Question: What band was the first to pose a significant security risk at Red Rocks Amphitheatre?
Answer: The Beatles.
The Beatles performed at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on August 26, 1964, as part of their first North American tour.
The concert marked the venue’s first major security challenge after the group received multiple death threats, including one that warned of a grenade attack during the show. The threatening letter ultimately made its way to the desk of FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover.
Despite the heightened tensions, The Beatles performed that evening for just 35 minutes. The 1964 show would be their first and only appearance in Colorado. See photos here.
