Answer: Buckley Space Force Base is named for Lt. John Harold Buckley, a World War I aviator born in Longmont. In 1918, Buckley was killed during a mid-air collision while on a combat mission in France. In 2003, he was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and WWI Victory Medal.
