Question: Horsetooth Reservoir was created by flooding what small town?
Answer: Stout, a town founded in the 1880s in Larimer County near Fort Collins, had to be submerged in the early 1950s to create Horsetooth Reservoir. Residents were relocated, and buildings were either moved or demolished. Remnants of the former town still lie at the bottom of the reservoir and can even become visible when the water is low enough.
