Answer: The city of Loveland is named after William A.H. Loveland, a businessman and politician who established the Colorado Central Railroad. The city was founded along his railroad in 1877. Loveland Pass, which Loveland explored on one of his many surveying trips, also owes its name to the railroad executive.
