Article Icon 1Affidavit Reveals ICE Shooting Details

A newly released arrest affidavit details the July 16 shooting outside Aurora’s ICE detention center, where GEO Group employee Brandon Booth, 42, allegedly shot 21-year-old protester Emma Landis in the foot.

Booth told police two women protesting outside the facility threatened to track down his address and his children’s school, which he said sent his anger to “a 15 out of 10.”

Booth, who said he had never received formal weapons training, told investigators he aimed to scare the women rather than hit them, firing one round that struck Landis in the foot.

Booth faces several felony charges, including attempted second-degree murder. GEO Group has said it will cooperate with the investigation.

Article Icon 1State Medicaid Owes Feds $8M: Audit

An audit found Colorado owes at least $8 million to the federal government after reviewing the state’s electronic visit verification system for in-home care under Medicaid.

Auditors reviewed a sample of 160 claims out of 1.3 million from the 2024 fiscal year and found errors in caregiver documentation and background screenings.

State officials disputed the findings, calling the sample size too small and insisting there’s no evidence services went undelivered or were fraudulent.

Federal inspectors flagged up to $45 million more in federal funds for further review, a process state officials say could take years to resolve.

Article Icon 1New Wolf Pack Forms

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) confirmed a fourth reintroduced wolf pack, dubbed the Piney Ridge Pack, has formed in Eagle County.

The other established packs are One Ear in Jackson County, Three Creeks in Rio Blanco County, and Copper Creek, the first pack to form after reintroduction began in 2023.

Wildlife officials say packs have higher survival rates than lone wolves, and pack formation helps focus conflict-mitigation efforts like scare devices and fladry fencing.

CPW is still working to count pups born this spring and will release a statewide wolf population estimate in its annual report next spring.

That scam call wasn’t random.

Scammers don’t just guess your number. They buy personal information from data brokers, companies selling your phone number, home address, relatives’ info, and more online.

That’s how a random scam call can turn into phishing, impersonation, identity theft, or someone knowing more about you than they should.

That’s why we recommend Incogni. It removes your personal information from these databases and keeps removing it automatically.
