Driver Pleads Guilty in Wrestling Team Crash

A Denver man has pleaded guilty to seven felonies over a December 2025 crash into a bus carrying the Grand Junction Central High School wrestling team.

Andrew Logan Miller admitted to vehicular homicide and six counts of vehicular assault, all tied to reckless driving, plus a misdemeanor count of reckless endangerment.

Sixteen people were taken to hospitals, including 13 student-athletes and two coaches. An 18-year-old passenger in Miller’s SUV died five days later.

Miller, who once faced a March trial date, is scheduled for sentencing in Jefferson County court on Nov. 17.

Cortez Infanticide Case Dismissed

The 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office moved to dismiss the first-degree murder case against a Cortez mother charged in the death of her 5-year-old daughter.

District Attorney Jeremy Reed said constitutional problems with how investigators handled Rachel Leonard’s cellphone left his office with no viable option. Leonard’s daughter, Annika, died in March 2022.

Officers seized the phone without a warrant and held it for roughly nine months after a judge denied their first search application for lack of probable cause.

Leonard’s trial had been reset for February, and Reed asked that the case be dropped without prejudice so the charge could be refiled if new evidence surfaces.

CSU Issues Apology for BYU Game Chants

Colorado State University (CSU) apologized to Brigham Young University (BYU) on Saturday night for derogatory chants aimed at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints coming from the stands in Fort Collins.

The school said ridiculing anyone’s religion has no place on campus and that the visiting Cougars deserved better. Most of the chanting came pregame from the student section.

BYU won 41-23, and coach Kalani Sitake said afterward that only a “minority” of fans took part, adding, “There’s some amazing fans here in Fort Collins.”

The Big 12 fined Colorado $50,000 last September over expletives and religious slurs directed at Mormons when BYU won at Folsom Field.
