Article Icon 1‘100 Deadliest Days of Summer’ End

Labor Day marks the end of the “100 Deadliest Days of Summer,” a period between Memorial Day and Labor Day when there’s typically a surge in fatal crashes.

To combat dangerous driving, the Colorado State Patrol (CSP) and other agencies have been conducting a DUI enforcement period, dubbed “The Heat Is On Labor Day Crackdown,” which runs through Sept. 3.

According to CSP, troopers arrested 32 people for impaired driving over Labor Day weekend in 2024.

Drivers may see saturation patrols, sobriety checkpoints, and additional officers during the final days of the enforcement period this week.

Denver is the eighth most popular U.S. destination for Labor Day travel among Americans, according to the American Automobile Association.

AAA data shows that Seattle, Orlando, and New York are the top three domestic travel spots for the 2025 holiday. At No. 8, Denver ranks ahead of Las Vegas and Miami.

Domestic Labor Day travel is cheaper this year than it was in 2024, with flight prices dropping by 6%, hotel rates by 11%, and car rental costs by 3%.
