Multiple Arrests at No Kings Protests

Thousands gathered at more than 50 locations across the state for the No Kings protests on Saturday, joining nearly 3,000 demonstrations nationwide opposing the Trump administration.

The largest of Colorado’s protests took place in Denver, where a crowd of 10,000 lined the streets near the Capitol, prompting road closures and transit delays.

Soon after Denver’s rally ended, about 100 people marched toward Interstate 25, clashing with officers who used smoke and pepper balls to repel them. A similar confrontation occurred hours later.

Denver police made 12 arrests related to the protests. Charges included aggravated assault, assault on a peace officer, and graffiti.

Trump Calls for Air Force Chapel Investigation

President Trump took to social media on Thursday to criticize what he called the “CONSTRUCTION DISASTER” surrounding the Air Force Academy’s Cadet Chapel restoration project.

The chapel’s renovation began in 2019. Since then, the project has been repeatedly delayed and its cost has skyrocketed, partly due to the discovery of asbestos.

On Truth Social, Trump drew attention to the building’s troubled architectural history and the ballooning cost of the federally funded restoration, saying the “mess should be investigated.”

The project is expected to be complete by Nov. 13, 2028. It’s now estimated to cost $335 million, more than double the initial $158 million budget.

Researchers Discover New 14er

Surveyors who completed a peak-measuring expedition in the Sangre de Cristos this month are proposing a change to Colorado’s list of 14,000-foot peaks.

Using satellite-controlled equipment, engineers took precise measurements of Crestone Peak, long considered Colorado’s 7th-tallest peak, and the nearby East Crestone Peak, its subpeak.

According to Eric Gilbertson, who led the expedition, East Crestone is actually 3.6 inches taller than Crestone, which would make East Crestone the fourteener and Crestone the subpeak.

If Gilbertson’s data is accepted, Colorado’s official fourteener list may be revised, though the U.S. Geological Survey and the Board of Geographic Names would need to make any designation change.
