Article Icon 1 Colorado Hit With Heavy November Snowfall

Heavy snowfall fell across the state last week, marking one of the snowiest Novembers ever recorded in Denver.

As of Saturday morning, 20 inches of snow had accumulated at Denver International Airport, nearly three times the 7.3 inches that Denver typically receives in November.

The heaviest hit areas were southern and eastern Colorado with the deepest snow measured at 54.9 inches in Custer County.

River basins in southwestern Colorado are recording a combined 344% of the normal snowpack for this time of the year. Meteorologists say that’s  likely to offer relief from summer and fall drought conditions.

Denver International Airport announced that the A-bridge and Ansbacher Hall will close from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m., Monday through Thursday nights, starting today.

This closure, part of an ongoing construction project through late 2025, will convert the Bridge Security Checkpoint area into a secure zone accessible only to screened passengers.

During these hours, travelers heading to Concourse A will need to use the train, as TSA will cease regular staffing at the Bridge Security checkpoint by Dec. 9. Screening equipment will remain as a contingency, though lanes will generally not be staffed.

This project, aimed at expanding capacity, will ultimately support DIA’s goal of serving 100 million annual passengers by 2027. In the long term, DIA also plans to add up to 100 additional gates to accommodate growing travel demand.

The Loveland Veterans Day parade will start at 11:11am this morning with a route through downtown Loveland.

And in Fort Collins, a permanent tribute to veterans at Veterans Plaza consists of stone walls embedded with large LCD monitors scrolling the names of more than 7000 veterans and information about them.
