4-Year-Old Girl Attacked by Coyote 

A 4-year-old girl in Colorado Springs was hospitalized after being attacked by a coyote on Thanksgiving Day.

The incident occurred when the child, mistaking the coyote for a dog, approached the animal.

The coyote lunged at her, grabbing the back of her head and causing serious injuries. Her uncle intervened, rescuing her and scaring the animal away.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife plans to eliminate any coyotes in the area to prevent further attacks and test for rabies. Officials are reminding residents to remain vigilant regarding children and pets in areas with active wildlife. 

Dentist Charged with Murder Plots to Kill Detective 

A dentist charged with poisoning his wife is now facing new allegations of plotting to kill a detective involved in the investigation.

Authorities allege he solicited a fellow inmate to carry out the murder while in jail. He now faces additional charges, including solicitation to commit first-degree murder and perjury.

The initial case involves allegations that he poisoned his wife’s protein shakes with cyanide and other substances, leading to her death in 2023.

The trial has been delayed after his attorney withdrew from the case, citing concerns over the defendant’s behavior.

Colorado’s Population Growth Slows 

Colorado’s population growth has slowed significantly, falling short of earlier projections.

The state, currently at 5.8 million residents, was expected to reach this milestone five years earlier and now isn’t anticipated to hit 6 million until 2026, well past the initial estimate of 2020.

Annual growth rates have dropped dramatically, from an average of 75,000 new residents per year between 2010 and 2020 to just 30,000 annually since 2020.

A key factor in this slowdown is Colorado’s low fertility rate—among the lowest in the nation—which reflects a broader national decline.
