Article Icon 1Minnesotan Sues Colorado for MAID Access

A terminally ill Minnesota man has filed a lawsuit challenging Colorado’s ban on providing medical aid-in-dying (MAID) to out-of-state residents.

Jeff McComas, who was diagnosed with stage IV intestinal cancer, wants to travel to Colorado to receive MAID, which is legal but limited to in-state residents under the End-of-Life Options Act.

The federal lawsuit, filed on behalf of McComas and two Colorado physicians, argues that the residency requirement violates the Constitution by restricting non-residents’ access to medical care.

Currently, Colorado is one of 12 states where MAID is legal. Similar legal challenges have led Oregon and Vermont to drop their residency requirements.

Article Icon 1Multiple Homeowners Allege Contractor Fraud

Multiple homeowners claim they were defrauded by Joel Cooner of Cooner Construction LLC, a contractor that filed for bankruptcy in February.

Christina and Scott Latimer of Northglenn hired Cooner to build a home addition in 2024. After paying out $300,000, they say Cooner disappeared, leaving the addition unfinished and subcontractors unpaid.

Leesa Tori, who paid Cooner nearly $300,000 to renovate her Denver home, says the project dragged on for 19 months with little progress, forcing her to cash out her retirement fund to finish construction.

The Latimers plan to take Cooner to bankruptcy court. Tori, who received a small settlement, hopes her story sheds light on contractor fraud and motivates policy change.

Article Icon 1Bobcat Found in Ken Caryl Home

Jefferson County police dealt with an unusual problem when a bobcat wandered into a Ken Caryl home last Thursday.

Deputies arrived to find the bobcat sitting behind a TV in the living room. Reasoning that “cats like lasers,” they tried using a TASER’s laser pointer to lure it out. See a video here.

Ultimately, the sheriff’s office said the bobcat “was not impressed” with the laser and instead left of its own accord through the open backdoor.

While bobcats are common in Colorado, wildlife officials say the species is secretive and rarely seen.

Hello!

My name is Cole, and I’m the CEO here at The Flyover.

I’ve had plenty of jobs in my life. Before I found my way into several digital media roles, I had some dirty jobs—the kind that would make Mike Rowe proud—flowback driver in the oilfield, drywall hauler, medical janitor, home flood restoration tech.

Without a doubt, my favorite job has been running The Flyover.

And not just because it doesn’t rain indoors.

I grew up in Flyover Country, and I’ve felt keenly the way that traditional news media brands have left most of America behind. I believe in the mission of The Colorado Flyover: to deliver a free, top-notch news publication without the bias that’s driven most of us away from mainstream media.

Every day, I get to come to work to help build something I believe in.

1.5 million Americans believe in The Colorado Flyover, too, and it’s an honor to serve you every day.

If you appreciate what we deliver, would you support us directly?

We’re an independent small business, and our advertisers don’t completely cover the revenue that we depend on.

I would appreciate a donation. They allow us to keep building the product we believe in!
