Article Icon 1Hundreds Gather for Pearl Street Vigil

More than 500 people, including Gov. Jared Polis and local faith leaders, gathered Wednesday outside the Boulder County Courthouse to hold a vigil for the victims of Sunday’s firebombing on Pearl Street Mall and denounce antisemitism.

“Today, I stand united and strong with the Boulder community,” Polis said. “Antisemitism, terrorism, and violence have no place in Colorado and no place in the United States of America.”

“This was not just an attack on individuals, it was an assault on the very values that define our city of Boulder,” added Boulder Mayor Aaron Brockett

The courthouse was lit blue in honor of the victims. Fifteen people, including one Holocaust survivor, were injured in the attack.

The suspect, Mohamed Soliman, was charged Thursday in state court with 118 counts, including attempted murder. Soliman is due in federal court today.

Article Icon 1DMV Warns of Text Scam

The Colorado DMV is warning residents about a new wave of text message scams that impersonate the DMV, a toll agency, or similar entity and demand payment for a fake ticket.

The texts notify the recipient of an unpaid fine, then threaten immediate legal action—such as license revocation or prosecution—and link to a fake payment website designed to steal personal or financial information.

In an announcement, the DMV stated all such messages are scams, noting it never sends texts to collect payment and warning recipients not to click the link, reply, or share any personal data.

Officials say the best way to identify text scams is by their tone, which is usually alarmist and invokes a sense of urgency. Victims are encouraged to report the messages to the FBI or FTC. See a list of tips here.

Article Icon 1A-Basin Extends Season to Mid-June

Arapahoe Basin will reopen for skiing this weekend, June 6–8, and again June 13–15, wrapping up its winter ski season just days before the official start of summer.

The Black Mountain Express and Lenawee Express lifts will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. According to A-Basin’s website, there’s still a 41-inch base of snow on the slopes.

A-Basin also announced that Lake Reveal, which emerges as the snow melts each spring, is now open for pond skimming.

The ski area said June 15 “will definitely, absolutely be closing day for the season,” confirming there won’t be any further extensions based on current forecasts.
