Article Icon 1Former GOP Chair Endorses Weiser

Ken Buck, the former five-term Republican congressman and onetime state GOP chair, endorsed Democrat Phil Weiser for governor Wednesday.

Buck represented Colorado’s 4th Congressional District (CD) from 2015 until his resignation in 2024. In a campaign video, he called Weiser honest, hard-working, and inclusive.

More than a dozen other Republican officials also endorsed Weiser, including former Attorney General Cynthia Coffman and former House Speaker Russ George.

Weiser faces Republican Victor Marx, a ministry leader and first-time candidate, in the race to succeed term-limited Gov. Jared Polis. Elected officials endorsing Marx include U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, current representative of the 4th CD.

Election day is Nov. 3.

Article Icon 1Economic Competitiveness Council Urges Action

A council of business and public-sector leaders formed by Gov. Jared Polis delivered its roadmap Wednesday for restoring Colorado’s economic edge. Polis said he will review the recommendations.

The roadmap lays out 49 recommendations across six areas, including regulatory reform, taxes, workforce, and housing. It flags 19 actions to start in the next legislative session.

Proposals include faster permitting reviews, a concierge system for complex permits, and a “Statewide-Importance Zone” designation to prioritize major infrastructure.

The plan arrives after Colorado’s employment-growth ranking fell 30 places from 2024 to 2025, to 46th nationally. The report will go to the gubernatorial candidates and the legislature.

The No. 1 Denver men’s hockey team will raise its 11th national championship banner tonight before hosting No. 2 Michigan, the team it outlasted in double overtime on the way to the 2026 title.

Kent Anderson’s goal from the slot ended that Frozen Four semifinal 4-3 in the longest game in program history. Goaltender Johnny Hicks made a career-high 49 saves that night and remains unbeaten in his college career at 17-0-1.

The Pioneers hold the top spot in this week’s national poll with 33 first-place votes, edging Michigan by 25 points. This series is the teams’ first regular-season meeting since 1981, and Denver enters on a 19-game unbeaten streak.

The 4-0 Wolverines lead the nation in scoring, averaging seven goals per game. Both games will stream on NCHC.tv.
