Article Icon 1November Election Guide

Colorado voters head into a busy midterm election that wraps up Nov. 3, with a high-stakes governor’s race, key congressional contests, and more than a dozen statewide ballot measures.

County clerks can begin mailing ballots today, and drop boxes open Oct. 12. A nonpartisan coalition plans to deploy about 1,000 volunteer poll monitors, up from roughly 300 in 2024.

Mail voting will proceed under existing rules after the U.S. Supreme Court blocked a Postal Service rule that would have placed new restrictions on mail ballots for the midterms.

On the ballot, Amendment 84 would require voters to write an ID number on mail ballot envelopes. As a constitutional amendment, it needs 55% of the vote to pass.

Article Icon 1CPW Suspends Wolf Killings

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) has suspended its directive on killing wolves that repeatedly prey on livestock, citing concerns that the population may not grow this year.

Several wolf advocacy groups applauded the decision. The agency said it has lethally removed five wolves since April and is investigating another wolf’s death.

CPW staff have detected 45 gray wolves, including four reproducing packs. Pup survival reached 82%, but adult survival fell to 61%, below the 75% typical of an unharvested population.

Five major agricultural groups condemned the move, with the Colorado Farm Bureau warning of immediate impacts as calving and lambing season nears. CPW plans revisions by April 2027.

Article Icon 1Blue Angels Return to Grand Junction

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels soared into Grand Junction Monday ahead of this weekend’s air show, which comes as the team marks 80 years since its founding in 1946.

The Blue Angels headline the show Saturday and Sunday at Grand Junction Regional Airport, their only Colorado stop this year. Gates open at 8:30 a.m. both days.

Organizers say there is no public parking on-site, so all spectators must ride air show shuttles. The Blue Angels are scheduled to fly around 2:30 to 3 p.m.

Ahead of the show, the team took two Colorado residents on demonstration flights: Rockies broadcaster Ryan Spilborghs and Grand River Academy math teacher Katie Peterson.
