Trump Admin’s Voter Rolls Lawsuit Dismissed

A federal judge has thrown out the Trump administration’s lawsuit seeking to force Colorado to hand over sensitive voter registration records to the Justice Department.

Denver-based U.S. District Judge Philip Brimmer found the DOJ gave no sufficient reason for the unredacted data and that the voter list is not a record the state must produce.

Colorado was one of 30 states sued over redacted voter files, and the DOJ has lost 20 of those cases. Brimmer dismissed this one with prejudice, so it cannot be refiled.

Secretary of State Jena Griswold, a Democrat, said the ruling affirms the DOJ has no right to Coloradans’ sensitive information. She has said state law would bar her from releasing it anyway.

22 DIA-Bound Flights Diverted in Storm

Severe weather over the Denver metro Monday evening forced 22 aircraft, including four international flights, headed for Denver International Airport (DIA) to divert to Colorado Springs Airport.

Several of the planes hit significant turbulence on the way in. Five passengers received medical attention on the ground, and one was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

The first diverted plane landed around 4:40 p.m. and the last near 8 p.m. All of the flights had departed again by 10 p.m., closing out the diversion event.

A cold front drove winds near 40 mph across the Front Range. FlightAware counted more than 800 delays and 31 cancellations at DIA on Monday.

Officials say full recovery could take years, and burn-scar flooding is already hitting Beulah and other communities where residents have only just returned home.

A group of friends in Peyton started a donation drive after a friend’s parents lost their house in Beulah, collecting supplies, gift cards, and gas money for volunteers.

A water restoration company is offering free estimates and discounts to flood-threatened owners, and Custer County runs a disaster assistance center at its courthouse in Westcliffe.
