Taxpayers can also ask the Department of Revenue for penalty waivers on other taxes and fees, such as fuel taxes, due in October, with a Nov. 6 filing deadline.

Arapahoe County deputies rescued two people trapped in an abandoned missile silo near the county fairgrounds early Tuesday, the second such rescue there in just a week.

Deputies said they spotted two vehicles near a restricted property just after midnight and heard voices from an underground shaft about 60 feet down.

A 19-year-old man climbed out using a rope ladder, but a 28-year-old woman could not, prompting a rescue by Sable Altura Fire Rescue. Neither was hurt.

Officials said this was the fourth rescue from an abandoned Arapahoe County missile silo since 2024 and urged people to stay off restricted, dangerous properties.
