The U.S. Department of Energy is canceling $7.6 billion in Biden-era federal clean energy grants across 16 Democratic-controlled states, including $550 million in Colorado.

The cuts affect universities, utilities, and oil and gas companies. Colorado State University took the biggest hit, losing $340 million slated for methane-reduction technology and other projects.

The DOE says the grants aren’t “economically viable.” The Colorado Energy Office, which lost $5 million, called the cuts illegal and “politically motivated,” warning of higher energy costs and instability.

The cuts are likely to face legal challenges. Recipients have 30 days to file an appeal, according to the DOE.

Article Icon 1Former Deputy Arrested in Mexico

A former San Miguel County sheriff’s deputy wanted on more than 50 charges related to child sexual exploitation has been apprehended in Mexico, authorities said Friday.

Jesus Damian Nieblas, 28, fled the country after investigators found child sex abuse material in his Norwood home during a July 10 search. He’d resigned in June, shortly before the search and the start of the investigation.

Following a months-long search, Mexican authorities arrested Nieblas in Agua Prieta, which borders Douglas, Arizona, and transferred him to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.

Nieblas is currently being held in a county jail in Arizona on a $100,000 cash-only bond. It’s not clear when he’ll be extradited to Colorado.

City leaders declared the three-year, $176 million overhaul of Denver’s 16th Street officially complete on Saturday.

Begun in 2022, the project replaced aging infrastructure while improving traffic and pedestrian safety. Expanded security, new art and play structures, and a name change—dropping “Mall”—were also part of the revamp.

On Saturday, thousands attended a reopening party with free food, live music, dancing, speeches, and $16 deals. A similar celebration marked a partial reopening in May.

City officials hope the project’s long-awaited completion will bring more business to the strip, where construction had driven down foot traffic and forced many storefronts to close.

Big Oil’s $20B Problem May Have an Answer

Every year, oil refineries burn off 20 million tons of hydrogen during the refining process. That waste is worth nearly $20 billion. With global hydrogen demand projected to triple by 2050, the potential value of lost hydrogen is only going to get bigger.

One company has an ingenious way to capture it.

DiviGas has developed a patented filter that recovers up to 99% of this lost hydrogen. Unlike costly alternatives, the DiviGas system fits directly into the 700+ hydrogen plants already in operation worldwide. That means it can be easily adopted everywhere.

The market is already responding. DiviGas has secured $9 million in signed projects in the last six months and launched 13 paid pilots. Demand for hydrogen is poised to triple as governments and corporations commit billions to cleaner energy sources. Invest in DiviGas before midnight on 10/7 to receive up to 15% bonus shares in this first-mover opportunity.

Governments and Corporations Are Pouring Trillions Into This

Global investment in cleaner energy is shattering records: $2.1 trillion in 2024 alone. That’s part of why hydrogen is projected to become a $1.4 trillion market by 2050. And DiviGas is on a mission to capture it.

Hydrogen is key in the production of oil, gas, chemicals, and steel. But oil and gas companies lose $20 billion worth of hydrogen annually. DiviGas has developed a patented filter that captures up to 99% of that loss.

With $9.9 million in signed projects and 13 paid pilots, DiviGas is already proving demand. Investors have a limited window to make the most of it. Invest in DiviGas before midnight on 10/7 and get up to 15% bonus shares.
