One student is dead and three others are in the hospital following a shooting at Evergreen High School on Wednesday afternoon.

Officials first received reports of the shooting at 12:24 p.m. The school, about 28 miles southwest of Denver, went into lockdown following reports of an active assailant.

Hundreds of law enforcement officers from multiple agencies responded to the scene. The suspect, a student, sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The suspect died in the hospital on Wednesday evening. Two other students remain in critical condition, and a third student was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Colorado Supreme Court voted 4-2 on Monday to uphold the disbarment of Linda Stanley, former 11th Judicial District Attorney and lead prosecutor in the high-profile murder case of Barry Morphew.

A disciplinary board barred Stanley from practicing law in 2024, ruling that inappropriate comments she made to the media in the Morphew case and another case contributed to both cases being dismissed.

In its Sept. 8 ruling, the court found that disciplinary officials didn’t err in making the rare decision to disbar an elected DA.

Morphew, accused of murdering his wife, Suzanne, is now awaiting a second trial following the development of new evidence.

Ten Safeway stores in Colorado will be closing on or before Nov. 7, including four in the Denver area, two in the Fort Collins-Loveland area, and four in southern Colorado. See a list here.

In a statement, Safeway said the closures are part of a “strategic consolidation” of its Intermountain and Denver divisions into the new Mountain West Division.

United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7, the union representing workers at eight of the 10 stores being closed, criticized the decision, saying it will leave Lamar and La Junta without a full-service grocer.

The mayor of Lamar said he was told the decision stemmed from lower sales, increased expenses from a labor strike, and the failure of Kroger and Albertsons’ $24.6 billion merger.

Take a look at any photo from people in the 1970s…

Compare it to today and you’ll see the difference is staggering.

People looked healthier, slimmer, more energetic.

And it wasn’t all because of better gyms or diets back then.

It’s likely because of something that happened in 1974 that changed everything…

A single decision that quietly rewired how Americans eat… and completely transformed our metabolism.
