Question: What is Colorado’s state bird?
Answer: The lark bunting became Colorado’s official state bird in 1931, winning out over the meadowlark and the bluebird following a lively debate at the state Capitol. More than 100 students from Fort Collins High School joined the president of the Colorado Audubon Society in making the case for the lark bunting, which they described as a “troubadour of the plains.”
