Question: What Colorado city’s downtown inspired the design of Disneyland’s Main Street, U.S.A.?
Answer: Old Town in Fort Collins served as inspiration for Main Street, U.S.A., along with Walt Disney’s hometown of Marceline, Missouri. Harper Goff, the artist who created Main Street, was born in Fort Collins in 1911. While working for Walt Disney, he returned to his hometown and photographed many of the historic buildings, using them as models for much of the iconic, turn-of-the-20th-century theme park area.
