Two Mexican nationals were arrested in Cañon City while transporting 180,000 rounds of large-caliber ammunition, authorities said Wednesday.

Police stopped the men last month for traffic violations. A search of their van uncovered roughly 150 boxes of .308 ammunition and 30 boxes of 7.62 ammunition, each box containing 1,000 rounds.

One of the men told investigators they purchased the ammunition in Salt Lake City and were en route to Pueblo. Both were in the U.S. on nonimmigrant visas, which prohibit them from possessing ammunition or weapons.

Multiple agencies are involved in the investigation. Officials say the case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative to repel illegal migration and “achieve the total elimination of cartels.”

Article Icon 1Bentley Denver Sued Over Ferrari Theft

Twin Cities Performance, a Minnesota car dealer, is suing a luxury dealership in Denver for failing to properly vet a fake shipping company that stole a Ferrari Roma in 2024.

Twin Cities had purchased the Ferrari from Bentley Denver, which contracted Angels Moving to handle shipping. Angels Moving then outsourced the shipment to another carrier—later determined to be fraudulent—and the car never arrived.

The lawsuit alleges Bentley Denver and Angels Moving skipped multiple verification protocols, such as getting a bill of lading or identification from the driver, and says the dealership cashed a $218,000 check for the car despite being told not to.

Twin Cities is seeking reimbursement for the car and compensation for other damages. The Ferrari remains missing.

Six Colorado law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty are among the 345 names to be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. this month.

The names will be engraved throughout April and dedicated during the 37th Annual Candlelight Vigil on May 13. An estimated 30,000 people attend the vigil every year to honor the fallen.

With the addition of the 345 names, the memorial will honor 24,412 fallen officers in total. See the full list of additions here.

In a press release, William Alexander, CEO of the memorial fund, spoke about the officers’ sacrifice: “This solemn moment is a time to grieve, to remember, and to ensure that we carry their legacy forward with gratitude and purpose.”
